Renew Life Ultimate Flora RTS Probiotics - The Ultimate Room-Temperature Stable Probiotics?
Renew Life Ultimate Flora RTS probiotics are a group of 6 different formulations of room-temperature stable probiotic supplements. As shown in some of the pictures below, the RTS capsules are sealed in double-foil blister packs to shield the probiotics from moisture and oxygen and prolong their lives at room temperature. During hot weather, however, refrigerating these products will prolong shelf life.

All of the RTS products utilize this blister-pack technology (even if their pictures don't show it). The stated CFU are at the time of expiration as long as the products are kept at room temperature.
NOTE: RTS products are different from the regular, refrigeration-required Renew Life Ultimate Flora probiotics. Do not assume that the same species and/or strains are in the RTS and regular products because this is not necessarily true! For instance, the RTS Senior Care has only Bifidobacterium strains in it, but the Senior Flora has Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus strains in it. Both supplements contain 30 billion CFU but the microbes are different.
It's confusing, I know, so make sure you are aware of which you are buying.
Renew Life Ultimate Flora RTS probiotics range in potency from 15 billion CFU to 50 billion CFU at time of expiration and contain between 6 and 12 strains. The only other ingredients in every one of these probiotic supplements is a vegetable capsule (vegetable fiber, water) and cellulose.
Most of these probiotic supplements are gluten-free and dairy-free, although one is produced in a facility that handles wheat, gluten, soy and dairy. The basis of the gluten-free and dairy-free determination is that the strains are grown on a non-gluten carbohydrate base, not a dairy or gluten base.
Are Renew Life Ultimate Flora RTS Probiotics Non-GMO?
Only one product at the time of this writing states that it is free of GMO's (genetically-modified organisms); that doesn't mean that the others contain GMO's. It only means that they haven't yet verified it. A customer-service representative told me that Renew Life is in the early stages of trying to verify which of their products are free of GMO's and make that information available as they find out. They are using a third-party service to determine the non-GMO status.
